The result of that long-distance collaboration is Survival, their debut album under The Resurrection Club name and an apt title if ever there was one. It’s a record that captures both endurance and rediscovery, a collection of songs shaped by years apart yet bound by a shared sonic vision. The nine-track outing starts with the sweep of buzzy synth tones and bright instrumental plucks on opening track “Every Second Counts,” jumping into a lively synth rock jam brimming with snapping beats, colourful arrangement and compelling vocal leads carrying instantly catchy hooks.
Title track “Survival, Pt. 1&2” gently builds from atmospheric textures and hushed vocal delivery to a bright soundscape of pulsing rhythms and mesmeric melodic leads. Taking listeners on a transportive musical voyage across almost eight minutes of wholly absorbing music packed full of intricate twists and turns, it’s a dazzling jam unlike any other.
“Our Luck’s Run Out” flows through moments of stripped back aesthetic and passages of hypnotic sonic vibes capped by emotive vocal performance to cast a tender moment on the record. Other highlights include songs like “Rebel Diamond Rat Pack” which serves up an invigorating slice of the band’s rock-inflected sound, pairing crunching guitars with danceable rhythms.

Some stories in music aren’t about fame or fortune, they’re about endurance, friendship and the steadfast defiance of keeping the flame alive and that’s the story of The Resurrection Club, a band whose name feels almost literal. Formed by three school friends from Glasgow, Morris Fraser, Martin McLeish and Mike Paterson, their journey began back in 1979 as The Plastic Flies, a scrappy post punk outfit that made a modest but meaningful impact in Scotland’s live scene.
Back then, they were just teenagers with borrowed amps and big ideas; morris brought the musical backbone, Mike the intricate guitar work and Martin became the group’s charismatic voice. Between 1979 and 1983, they toured relentlessly, secured national radio airplay and even landed support slots for The Clash, the sort of validation every young band dreams of. But success, even in small doses, can splinter ambition an by 1983, they’d played their final show and drifted in different directions and the last time they saw each other in person was 20 January 1983.
However, decades later, something stirred and in 2017, contact was rekindled, an email here, a memory there and slowly, the idea of making music together again took form. By then, life had taken each of them far afield. Morris was running a studio in Edinburgh, Mike was still active as a guitarist and Martin had rediscovered his love for writing. That initial exchange of ideas soon became an exciting new project, they called it The Resurrection Club, a fitting name for a band reborn from memory, distance and time.
Recording together, however, wasn’t simple, the trio lived across continents, their creative process occurring entirely through file transfers and late-night messages. Sessions took place remotely between Melbourne and Edinburgh, guided at first by award-winning engineer Alberto Pérez at Sol de Sants Studios and later refined with producer and DJ Robin Twelftree, known for his work with The Prodigy, at his Barcelona-based studio and despite the miles between them, the sound that they forged was unmistakably theirs.

Martin McLeish and Morris Fraser first crossed paths in Glasgow’s underground scene decades ago, back when guitars rang out in rehearsal rooms thick with ambition. Time scattered them across Europe, with one in Spain and the other in Scotland, yet the creative thread never fully snapped. This record is the sound of that thread being pulled tight again.
Built through file exchanges and long-distance collaboration, 'Survival' carries the weight of geography in its bones. It feels expansive and intimate at once; widescreen in atmosphere, yet grounded in human detail. Producer Robin Twelftree, known for work alongside The Prodigy, helps shape a landscape where chiming six-strings intersect with textured electronics. The result is a meeting point between shadowed guitar tradition and ambient modernity.
Lyrically, the album confronts the turbulence of contemporary life head-on. 'Emergency' pulses with quiet urgency, its refrain hinting at a world running out of options. El otro tema que también es de larga duración se llama Lancaster Bombers, este comparte una melodía que intriga, hay momentos como en el minuto 1:46 en donde el sonido se hace penetrante, curioso y excitante, esta canción por un rato te hace sentirte desencajado, plasma una historia con la que puedes identificarte y entender alegorías ingeniosas, su disimulado arreglo acústico le da un toque de frescura y vida al tema, creo que este podría ser uno de tus temas favoritos, especialmente si te gustan los toques retro y osados que manifiesta sabiduría.
El octavo tema es Emergency, en este una critica social y una instrumental ardiente nos hacen sentir desesperados efímeramente, la canción palpa la preocupación por las crisis que hay en el mundo, por ello este tema te queda como anillo al dedo, plantea una interesante y realista idea por la que muchos hemos atravesado, aunque no intenta deja runa moraleja, la verdad es que termina teniendo un impacto positivo.
Song of innocence es una canción que sigue entrando en el entorno reflexivo, en este se lanza un concepto que te permite escapar del caos que genera el mundo actual, en esta pieza tendremos ganas de apostar por un nuevo inicio y por poner el freno de mano en este entorno que acelera bruscamente, será como detenerte a contemplar la vertiginosa vista del mundo.
Hasta este punto de Survival ya habrás notado que The Resurrection Club busca involucrarte en cada una de sus composiciones, no hace que se sienta forzada cada una de las emociones que viviremos, siempre mantiene un ritmo sereno y perspectivas profundas que revelan una gran autenticidad por parte de los integrantes, su aura musical llega para alterarnos por completo.
Como a mi me gustan mucho las melodías ardientes y pegadizas entonces debo recomendarte mucho escuchar Rebel Diamond Rat Pack, una canción que utiliza matices de rock para hacernos sentir en un entorno ligeramente intenso, pero solo esporádicamente porque los riffs son bien aprovechados para realzar los cantos y crear instantes fervientes, es imposible sentirse de malas cuando escuchas sus fogosos acordes eléctricos, hasta la voz aviva esa vehemencia que tienes estancada en tu alma.
Una producción de calidad, una visión musical ambiciosa y una precisión emocional hacen que Survival sea un álbum poderoso, evocador y fantástico, muchas de sus obras te van a conquistar en todos los sentidos, por eso el último tema del que hablaré será Stone Me in Paradise, una composición brillante que mantiene una melodía apacible, la necesidad de paz es notorio en este hit y eventualmente te sentirás en una armonía inquebrantable, es una obra que es como un faro de luz, su sonido es brío y tranquilidad, te saca de un gran apuro y te da una razón más para confiar.
Esta última pieza me dejó sin aliento y con un gran impulso de hacer eco en el mundo, la composición cumple su objetivo y me demostró que este proyecto merece cada segundo de atención, si te sientes un poco confundido o vulnerable entonces considera seriamente en darle una oportunidad The Resurrection Club.

Survival borra la penumbra que hay en las mentes para darle a la audiencia un instante de redescubrimiento, en esta composición podremos navegar entre los surcos de la vulnerabilidad, ya que este conjunto melódico logra impactarnos profundamente, The Resurrection Club ofrece un entorno musical de post-punk con texturas cinematográficas que diseñan un ambiente introspectivo, justo esto nos promete un vinculo fuerte y una afinidad espectacular con la que podremos darle libertad a nuestra imaginación y corazón rápidamente.
Las canciones de este álbum se sienten como un baile entre las sombras, el aura que proyecta este proyecto y los diseños Synth que ha creado son realmente atractivos, da guiños melancólicos y deja letras que te dejan meditativo en más de una ocasión, personalmente me gustó mucho Our Luck´s Run Out, una pista que escuché durante la noche y que le dio sentido a mis ratos de soledad, esta obra abre suave, una voz ligeramente débil como luz tenue te abraza, la canción te va llevando por un camino que evidentemente te hace bajar la guardia emocional, sumado a esto, la instrumental es un deleite que me causó asombro, hay partes en las que me permití sentir una sensación de nuevos comienzos.
La magnifica energía de este proyecto es fabulosa, plantan una semilla sentimental que riegan tema tras tema, y este germina en un montón d emociones que provienen desde las raíces de la psique, no siempre te sentirás afligido, de hecho en canciones como The Upstage, seguiremos disfrutando estar rodeados por la oscuridad de la noche mientras abrimos una puerta de nostalgia, esta colección te hace sentir una gran confianza, te lleva por un rumbo de emotividad abundante y de sonidos que liberan la mente de una presión.
Deberías escuchar también el tema inicial del conjunto que ofrece esta proyecto, en Every Second Counts activan tu lado apresurado, ese que por fin ha entrado en razón y que ahora es consciente de que su tiempo es lo más valioso que tiene, naturalmente nos volveremos los protagonistas de esta historia y aprenderemos una lección significativa para hacer valer nuestra vivencia individual, esta es una canción que nos regala una de las instrumentales más suculentas del álbum, lo que nos asegura un rato de total confort y catarsis para revivir en cuerpo y mente.
La obra homónima Survival, Pt. 1&2 es la más extensa que encontraremos en este álbum, aquí dos historia convergen y nos hacen sentir un empujón de intriga, la obra mantiene un ritmo que hipnotiza y que te deja varado en el pensamiento, esta obra larga es como un mundo retro en el que podrás moverte a placer, viajarás a través del tiempo y podrás conectar contigo, a mi me hizo salirme un rato de mi zona de confort para explorar los misterios y las crudas realidades desde un enfoque artística. Me agradó que esta canción jamás se hizo monótona, su sonoridad esta en una metamorfosis que te electriza, hasta el final seremos seducidos por un espíritu aventurero y soñador.

The story stretches back to Glasgow in 1979, when three school friends formed The Plastic Flies and carved out a modest but meaningful presence on the Scottish post-punk circuit. Morris Fraser’s musicianship, Mike Paterson’s guitar work, and Martin McLeish’s magnetic presence at the mic carried them through touring and national radio play before diverging ambitions scattered them across continents. On January 20th 1983, they saw each other in person for the last time.
More than three decades later, contact was reestablished. Fraser had built a home studio in Edinburgh. Paterson remained active in Melbourne. Recording remotely between Scotland, Spain, and Australia — and still not physically reunited — they began constructing something new. “Survival”, recorded in part at Sol de Sants Studios and shaped alongside producer/DJ Robin Twelftree (whose résumé includes work with The Prodigy), captures that history without being trapped by it. While its DNA traces back to Glasgow’s post-punk pulse, the album expands outward, threading shimmering guitar textures through ambient electronics and understated rhythmic tension. It feels analog in emotion yet global in execution — intimate but expansive.

The emotional centerpiece, however, is focus track, “Every Second Counts”. Anchored by spacious instrumentation and a patient build, it crystallizes the album’s central anxiety: disconnection in an overconnected world, lands with particular force, not as accusation but as weary observation. Yet even here, the band resists cynicism. The track’s gradual swell suggests that being unheard is not the same as being alone.

It’s less about nostalgia and more about continuity — proof that creative bonds can persist even when geography intervenes. The record doesn’t promise easy answers to the crises it addresses. indirectamente el álbum reconoce la oscuridad que muchos viven en el presente, crea un clima emotivo que progresivamente te consume, en este nos dejan ver la supervivencia de nuestro ser depende de cruzar un puente hacia la empatía y esperanza, en esta entrega no se toma como epicentro la resiliencia, más bien creemos que la aceptación y la fuerza son el núcleo, toda la travesía la sentimos como un sueño profundo del que no quieres despertar, casi fue una aventura cósmica que nos dejó enganchados, es lo que necesitas escuchar para sentirte eximido ante la frenética realidad, en esta colección se logra deconstruir nuestra percepción y por eso es que te sentirás tan libre como un ave en pleno vuelo.
Desde la primera canción ya puedes estar en una frecuencia de inmersión total, el tema cumple con la intención de crear un fulgor astral, la melodía tiene un efecto que se siente de en los primeros segundos y que va creciendo conforma al paso, su ritmo dinámico te hace moverte, así que esta primera canción titulada "Every Second Counts" realmente avivará tu instinto de urgencia, tus pensamientos van a llevarte hacia el presente, así que esta pieza inicia una avalancha de cambio que no se podrá parar.

Durante estos años es complicado encontrar algo que te emociones realmente, así que esta anomalía sonora luminosa llegará hasta tus dispositivos para revitalizarte, ya que esta no es una simple colección de canciones, porque en esta obra se plasma el reencuentro, superando así las fronteras para darle a la audiencia algo por lo que estallar de autenticidad.
The Resurrection Club fue creada por un dúo bastante impresionante que con su música emite una luz de claridad en las mentes, aunque la distancia y los desafíos han cambiado las cosas este proyecto se mantiene fiel a un estilo que oscila entre lo retro y novedoso, dándole la oportunidad a nuevas generaciones de explorar el espacio del Synthwave, Synthrock, Post Punk y Ambient, en esta experiencia musical encontraremos muchas razones para olvidarnos de la realidad por más de cuarenta minutos, las canciones de Survival, nos sumergen en ese ruido que nos desorienta emocionalmente, todo con la intención de ofrecernos resistencia en momentos donde reina la incertidumbre, desde el inicio encontraremos valiosas ideas para atesorar, sin duda el concepto de esta colección te marcará.

Martin McLeish, Mike (Spike) Paterson, and Morris Fraser had played together in Glasgow-based post-punk band outfit The Plastic Flies in the 1980s, but just as time and distance pushed them apart musically, it has in turn helped them reunite with help from producer and DJ Robin Twelftree, known for his work with The Prodigy.
Two things immediately struck me about the album. The first is how current tracks like Our Luck’s Run Out sound. It has some of those 80s and 90s Scottish indie/post-punk textures in the arrangement and certainly in the vocals. In that, flickers of Simple Minds, The Blue Nile, and Aztec Camera from that era can be briefly glimpsed, but it’s a sound that informs much modern indie and rock music of the moment. If you’re familiar with the music of the European dark scene, the moody and moving rock shapes of the album will be pleasing to your ears.
Secondly, it’s how the album doesn’t avoid the problems of the present but encourages us to seek answers, to resist, rather than succumbing to fear. They’ve described the music as being “a post-punk stance in a post-truth world,” and on Survival, that leads to lyrics that are honest and soul-bearing, but as on Survival, Pt 1 & Pt 2, it is framed in a positive manner, looking forwards and upwards to a better future.
The streaming version of the album contains Rebel Diamond Rat Pack – written by Martin McLeish, Michael Paterson, and Morris Fraser – that, for its talk of DEFCON 1, channels its frustration into what ultimately is an upbeat electronic/post-punk crossover. That can also be heard on Emergency, with its noticeable use of Obama spoken word samples.
As a testament to friendship down the years and a tribute to musicians that overcome the odds to go on a creative journey together, working in Scotland, Australia, and Spain, Survival can be viewed as a success.
But its real strength lies in how The Resurrection Club have made the years melt away. Music can help us to stay forever young, even in nostalgia mode, and while McLeish, Paterson, and Fraser don’t dwell on or in the past here, the album is certain to trigger happy memories for listeners of a certain age.
If you have a fondness for the Postcard/Fast Product era of Scottish indie music and anthemic rock of the present, maybe a weakness for Deacon Blue too, find a place in your heart for Survival.

Survival es un álbum que cuenta con 9 maravillosas composiciones, las cuales cuentan con sutiles texturas de Synthrock, Experimental y una esencia casi onírica que te permitirá darle rienda suelta a tu imaginación, esta es una travesía recomendable para cualquiera que quiera desconectarse un rato de la realidad, en más de una ocasión te sentirás en una sintonía de gozo, además, en todas las obras encontrarás un espacio edificante para reflexionar con sinceridad, simplemente debes dejarte llevar por cada sonido y sentimiento, ya que esta propuesta fue hecha para que podamos fluir y refluir con libertad, precisamente por es emotivo este lanzamiento se convertirá en uno de tus preferidos del mes.
Todo comienza con Every Second Counts, una tema que sorprende por su cálido sonido y su fabulosa melodía que constantemente deja destellos de vigor, en esta obra se nos regala un lirismo que nos hará sentir vivos, su tono jovial y atrevido es una dosis de euforia y confianza sonora, misma que te hace levantarte con el ímpetu a tope, la rola tiene un sonido que te hace bailar con libertad, además, los cantos tienen una energía inspiradora que se hace parte de tu sistema al instante, crea el ambiente perfecto para que los oyentes podamos renacer, es una pista que seguramente te activará, a nosotros nos gustó su mensaje y la manera en la que lo entregan, ¡es un comienzo ideal para empezar a vincularnos con este proyecto tan fascinante!
El segundo tema que nos podremos encontrar será Survival, Pt 1&2, una obra en la que se nos regala una melodía que te orilla hacia la introspección, en los primeros segundos consigue robar tu atención a través de delicadeza, hace que te sientas con ganas de reconectarte contigo mismo, su sonoridad atemporal hace que el momento se vuelva significativo, en especial esta pieza consigue desconectarnos del mundo unos minutos, haciendo que tengamos un momento mucho más significativo, nos ha parecido que esta rola envolvente tiene una vibra serena que abraza de cierto modo la vulnerabilidad, lo cual crea una conexión que trasciende de inmediato.
Durante la tercera entrega encontramos un mágico magnetismo que nos dio vitalidad en medio del vacío, esta rola llamada Our Luck´s Run Out también llega con un golpe de reflexión, pero no de forma brusca, más bien llega con serenidad, crea el ambiente idóneo para que nosotros nos animemos a soltarnos en mente y alma, causa fascinación por sus arreglos sintetizados y te da mucha libertad para que te pierdas y divagues entre la instrumental, eso hace que esta propuesta sea gloriosa, un refugio auditivo con el que te sentirás totalmente maravillado.
Con Satate of Innocence seguiremos navegando en un mar de sensibilidad, de hecho los acordes acústicos hacen que todo el horizonte se vuelva más intimo, lo que dejará al oyente pegado a su esperanza, en este se muestra una lirica honesta que termina impactando fuertemente en el interior, la obra te hace dar un bocado de aire fresco que te renueva, es como mirar en retrospectiva, su tonalidad inspira y te hace sentir un impulso de armonía, nos ha gustado por su armoniosa energía, es un hit para quedarte quieto mientras admiras el paisaje de la ciudad.

No todo queda en vigorosas atmósferas, ya que en Rebel Diamond Rat Pack hallaremos algunos riffs electrizantes que están acompañados de un diseño sonoro embriagador, en esta pieza sentirás como tu ímpetu vuelve a escalar, en esta pieza la esencia de Rock se hace notar constantemente, incluso hasta la melodía estará evolucionando frecuentemente, es un hit que querrás repetir día y noche, te dejará con un entusiasmo especial, este tema un gran ejemplo de que la atemporalidad le da una sustancia inigualable.
El tema Stone Me in Paradise será otros de los que te atrapará con su tono ensoñador, en esta pieza se nos regala una melodía especial que te deja varado mentalmente, te sigue adentrando en las profundidades de la psique y eventualmente te hace despertar de un largo sueño, la sensibilidad del canto nos gustó demasiado porque te hace sentir un cálido abrazo de empatía.
Entre las pistas que te cautivan por su armonía y briosa vibra se encuentra Lancaster Bombers, los acordes acústicos en combinación con una interpretación emotiva y una melodía apaciguadora consiguen que los oyentes encuentren cierta calma, la obra tiene algunos arreglos que se sienten épicos, como el latido de un cambio que va aumentando lentamente.
